So I finished this book last night after starting it a very long time ago. I started it when I first moved into my dorm back in August. Now it's November! Eek! Okay, now is where I make the lame excuse of how I have been so busy that I haven't been able to read. Someone kill me now! I'm sorry I haven't read as much as I would like too.
This book is the 2nd book in the Private series. What is even worse is how long ago I took to continue this series. I read the first one back in July 2008! So when I started it again, things were a little fuzzy but when I got back into the book I remember them.
Here is the summary on the back of the book:
Reed Brennan's future is looking as bright as the two-karat diamonds in her new housemates' ears. Being accepted to the most prestigious private boarding school in the country wasn't enough for Reed. She had to break every rule to do it, but she has accomplished the impossible:Reed is a Billings Girl now. And with her new status come respect, envy, and, most important, opportunity. Not to mention the parties. Unfortunately, at the next illicit party in the Easton campus woods, her roommate snaps some pictures of Reed in more than one compromising position. She uses the photos to blackmail Reed: Dig up dirt on the most powerful and popular Billings Girls or she will have Reed expelled. And speaking of parties, the Legacy is coming up. It's the invitation-only Halloween party in NYC and it's rumored that Thomas -- Reed's MIA boyfriend -- will be making an appearance there. Too bad Reed isn't even close to invited.Life as a Billings Girl is every bit as glamorous as Reed imagined. What she didn't bargain for is the tangled web of private lies these girls weave.
Okay now for the ***SPOILER ALERT!!***
This book was pretty decent. I had no idea that the Billings Girls were going to do that to Reed. What they did, that is the part I will not spoil. :)
But in other terms, the guy she goes out to with to try to get a ticket to the Legacy, Walt Whittaker. They all called him Whit. I felt so bad for him because he really liked Reed but she didn't like him back. Though, I think Constance and Whit would be the perfect couple. <3
Let me just say OMG to the Legacy. I would love to go to a party like this. It basically is a masquerade with beautiful gowns and every guest receives a designer something that is white. I would love it! Going to a Masquerade is on my list of things to do, but I don't think I could make it to one this expensive. hehe
The ending was great and the last line of the book were perfect. Just before she is thinking she might be having some feelings for Josh, and she tells him that she can be happy without Thomas and she's better off without him. But then, they find Thomas' body. He is dead!! (I was kind of expecting that haha) But the last line says if she opens her mouth, she would scream and never be able to stop. It was great. I would probably do the same. She loved Thomas. Even though he made a girl think about how his feelings were, he was still good to her. Even though I love Thomas, I think I might be on team Josh. He seems better for Reed.
Earlier, she finds this note that Thomas gave her. I'm pretty sure I shed a tear at that part though I'm not sure since it has been so long since I read the beginning.
***END OF SPOILER***
Overall, the book was pretty good and is most defiantly making me want to read the rest of the books. They are on my list!
P.S. I ordered a book called Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay from my library to read over Thanksgiving break. The book looks good and the cover is even better. There will be a review on that one coming.
